This weekend I had the absolute pleasure of experiencing something truly magical—a full evening at Farrand Hall in Colon, Michigan. If you’ve been around the blog for a while, you might remember that I stopped by Farrand Hall a few weeks ago for a quick book signing event. I knew it was special then, but oh my, nothing could have prepared me for that experience.
The moment I stepped foot onto the grounds, I was surrounded by what felt like a scene out of a storybook—the most breathtaking fall setting I had ever seen. The trees were ablaze with those perfect burnt orange and golden leaves that made my heart feel all warm and cozy. You know that feeling, right? It was as if the world was giving us all a warm hug. The crisp autumn air, twinkling lights strung around the property, and the cozy corners everywhere made it a night to remember.
Farrand Hall wasn’t just a beautiful venue, though; it was an experience, a moment to truly savor life. Some of these talented chefs even had Michelin-star ratings, so you were definitely in for a culinary treat! These chefs took full control of the kitchen and the menu, which meant each visit to Farrand Hall brought something new to the table (literally!).
The dinner could be served family-style or plated, depending on the chef that night, and the seating was arranged communally. I know this could feel a little outside of our comfort zone at times, but trust me when I say it was a wonderful opportunity to meet others in the community and make new friends. There was something so heartwarming about breaking bread together, sharing stories, and feeling that sense of connection—especially in such a cozy atmosphere.
The entire evening was magical—not just the dinner itself but the whole experience, from start to finish. We got to explore the grounds an hour before dinner began, and believe me, every inch of the property was worth taking in. The rustic charm of the building, the stunning gardens, and even the little nooks scattered throughout—it all made me feel like I was in my very own cozy wonderland. It was honestly the perfect spot to unwind, take in the beauty of nature, and enjoy a slower pace for an evening.
